What kind of electric guitar strings are best for a fender stratocaster?

Im going to the guitar center and i need to find good guitar strings for like metal and rock. And also what are ernie ball slinky strings?

Chosen Answer:

I have a ’95 American Standard Strat.

I use and highly endorse D’Adarrio 9-42 guage.

I never cared for Ernie Ball slinky’s. A bit too harsh and brassy sounding for my taste. Dean Markley also makes great electric guitar strings.

Guitar strings for electric generally go from a super light guage, starting with an .008 for the high E…or a .009, like I use, or a 010 for a slightly heavier string.

I like the 9’s cause I do a bit of string bending..pedal steel effects, etc.

D’Addario often has deals…buy 3 sets for one low price, or 10 sets in a pack..etc. Don’t spend upwards to on a set of strings, when you can buy them for half that price, if you buy a few extra sets.

Best of luck!

Thin string make string bending easy and have a lighter feel to it.
Thick strings make bending harder, but they have fuller sound.

Whatever guitar you place them on does not have to influence your choice on strings.
