What is a good acoustic guitar for beginners?

I am 17 and just recently I have really been interested in indie music and its inspired me to learn guitar. Basically just want to know from experienced players, an affordable guitar which looks pretty nice, plays well and everything. Preferably in the price range of 100 to 200 pounds. Dont just say a make, say the model aswell.

Chosen Answer:

There are lots of good beginners(ish) guitars out there. But here are some that i like the most

Dean Tradition Acoustic Electric (it is a pack) –

Epiphone PR-150 – http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-PR150-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=512457

Ibanez V70ce – http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-V-Series-V70CE-Dreadnought-Cutaway-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=519468

Any mid-priced Washburn, here is an example, the WD 5SB – http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Washburn-WD5S-Solid-Sitka-Spruce-Top-Acoustic-Dreadnought-Guitar?sku=430356

These are all pretty low priced guitars, but if you want something a bit more expensive, you could go with a cheaper Taylor guitar (which sound awesome) or maybe a cheaper Martin. I would go to a guitar store and try some of them out cause you want to see how a guitar sounds before you buy it if possible =) Good luck

I particularly like the Yamaha FS-720S. It’s got a solid wood top which is a big advantage and it’s a comfortable size.

The Dean Playmate is the best beginners guitar you’ll get. It’s a cool guitar for only 70 bucks.

Here’s some reviews for the Playmate and other good entry-level guitars.

When I bought my Guitar, I searched for months for the right sound, and for me, the Freshman FA1D series guitars are definitely the best quality, best sounding, and most affordable in your price range.
