What guitar pedals make my guitar sound funky?

I want a REALLY funky sound to it. I play bass guitar, and my friend plays electric. We’re a funk-ish band, and we’ve been looking for a pedal for his guitar. Any good funk guitar pedals will do (and I’m sure we’ll find them. We have a LOT of guitar stores in Cali)

Chosen Answer:

One word: CRYBABY, the original wah-wah pedal.

The best thing you can get for a guitar is a Wah which will give you more dynamic control and the ability to control the rate of your effect. however for a Bass I would suggest the electro-harmonix enigma Q-balls, specifically designed for the low frequencies of the bass, it allows that “pop” to shine through without having to constantly rock a pedal back and forth.

This is just one brand of pedal that I can personally vouch for. Any Envelope Filter pedal will do essentially the same thing.
