On Saturday and Sunday, October 16th and 17th, 2010, Vine Hill Winery will open the gates to its vineyard and winery to the public for its Third Annual Fall Wine & Music Festival. With expansive and breathtaking views of Monterey Bay and the surrounding Santa Cruz Mountains, both days at the winery will feature fabulous Vine Hill and Gatos Locos wines, high-spirited live Americana and Bluegrass music, a Bottle-Your-Own Wine Experience, plenty of tables and grounds for picnicing, free pumpkin decorating and complimentary popcorn and lemonade — all from noon to 5pm. A tasting fee will include a commemorative wine glass.
Historic Vine Hill Winery, located in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains wine appellation, today announced the dates for its Third Annual Fall Wine & Music Festival, to be held at its vineyard and winery overlooking beautiful Monterey Bay. On the third weekend in October, Saturday and Sunday, October 16th and 17th, Vine Hill will be offering a delightful mix of fabulous wines, lively music performed by local musicians, a Bottle-Your-Own Wine Experience, picnicing and free pumpkin decorating for kids.
“Fall is such a beautiful time of year at the winery, when the vines display such a vibrant variety of autumn colors and harvest is fully underway. With great musicians, great wine and a fun and interesting gathering of wine-loving visitors, our Fall Wine & Music Festival has been a great success the past two years,” said Lore James, marketing director at Vine Hill Winery. “This year promises to be even better!”
A Great Selection of Wines — Plus Delicious Box Lunches
Along with some of the winery’s award-winning Pinot Noirs, other varietals that will be available for tasting at the festival will include Zinfandel, Syrah and Chardonnay. The tasting fee will be per person, and includes a commemorative wine glass. Vine Hill Winery Wine Club members taste for free, and can bring up to three guests. In addition to tastes, wines will also be available by-the-glass for each.
Vine Hill Winery is also a perfect location for enjoying a picnic with a spectacular view — guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch of their own, or enjoy box lunches from The Brown Bag Lunch Company of Ben Lomond that will be available at the festival both days. Brown Bag’s delicious lunches include a sandwich, salad and dessert for only each. Complimentary popcorn, lemonade and Santa Cruz Mountains water will be available both afternoons.
Music . . . More Music . . . And Bottle-Your-Own Wine Experience on Both Days
On Saturday, October 16th, Vine Hill welcomes back Amee Chapman and The Velvet Tumbleweeds — an amazing musical artist, and her equally amazing band, who will perform “Sagebrush Soul and Americana” tunes at the upper patio for the afternoon.
Then on Sunday, October 17th, Duane Campbell and his Just Picked String Band returns to the winery to perform an excellent repertoire of Bluegrass favorites, with fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin — all the essential ingredients for real foot-stomping Bluegrass.
And, on both days of the festival, attendees will have the fun and hands-on educational experience of filling, corking labeling and foiling their own bottle of Gatos Locos Red Wine during the Bottle-Your-Own Wine Experience held in the barrel room under the guidance of Vine Hill winemaker Sal Godinez. Cost for the Wine Experience is and includes one bottle of Gatos Locos Red Wine and snacks. Space is limited — reservations are highly recommended.
