Singer/Songwriter Kara Reynolds is not your typical Nashville artist. With Her songs drawing from a wide variety of genres, and a varied palette of pop, folk and jazz influences, she has put a new light on the famed Music Row. Now she’s bringing it to top US regional venues.
Working out of Music Row in the majestically musical city of Nashville, Tennessee, one might expect to hear banjos, twanging country guitar licks, and lyrics full of woe is me – my baby left me, coming off of the new release Paper Moon from up and coming singer-songwriter Kara Reynolds. Not so with the unique and culturally pleasing music on the new album from this multi-talented emerging artist.
The songs on her debut release draw from a wide variety of genres, and a varied palette of pop, folk and jazz influences, with ringing piano chords and acoustic guitars largely at the forefront. The song Sky Painter a wonderful ballad, with a zenith climax, beckons her back to the big skies and open spaces of her home state of Wyoming, a place Kara Reynolds sings she “will always call my home.”
Graduating from Nashville’s Belmont University in 2009 with a bachelor of music degree, Kara quickly put her skills and expertise to work by writing the series of opulent songs featured on her album; the first of which were devised and developed while working in a Wyoming coal mine warehouse. After receiving many accolades and encouragement from friends, family, and interested strangers on her songwriting ability, the project quickly moved forward and she entered the recording studio with some of Nashville’s top session musicians. Hence the creative brilliance of Paper Moon was born.
The album seems to capture a little bit from everyone of Kara’s musical influences which range widely from Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell to the Beach Boys and Beethoven. Whatever influences are employed on this stellar album, one thing is for sure. The uniqueness and versatility is truly all Kara Reynolds.
Beginning in May of this year Kara will be embarking on a regional coffee house tour, performing songs from her debut album Paper Moon at some of the best known acoustic venues in the US. The run will kick off in Chicago and run through the mid-western states of Ohio and Michigan and will wind down in the Pacific Northwest.
Kara’s debut CD Paper Moon is available at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and other retail outlets. To keep up to date on Kara’s upcoming tour schedule please visit her website at: http://www.karareynolds.com/news.html.
