If someone is good at guitar hero do it make them good at real guitar?

My friend thinks that she would be good at the real guitar because she is good with the guitar hero is this true?

Chosen Answer:

No. Although Guitar Hero is good at building speed and reflexes it bears little comparison to a real guitar especially when it comes to knowing about the musical basics such as chords or scales.

no…guitar hero is just coloured buttons whereas guitar is chords etc…the only thing that would help her is playing and strummin at the same time but no she won’t just be a good guitarist because she is good on a video game.

Nope. That is foolish to think that.

It would make them good at listening and playing in line with the beat but it doesn’t necessarily mean they are good at real guitar..UNLESS they play guitar as an instrument already..
Anyway, guitar hero is clearly made to look like a guitar but instead you press buttons instead of strumming so they are completely different and you would need more skill in playing an actual guitar. So no, guitar hero may not mean they’re good at real guitar but may improve their rhythm and beat and ‘how to hold a guitar’ maybe? I hope I helped 🙂

    Of course not.

Was she joking or actually being serious?

Yes – also, your friend can fly, levitate objects, and bring the dead back to life.

    Tell her she’s stupid.

  8. Alin says:

Of course not, it’s just a video game, not a real instrument. If you’re the best on Karate video games, that won’t make you the best fighter in the world. It’s kinda same thing.

The one thing it does is help with the dexterity of your left fingers, this doesn’t teach you to play but does make it a little easier when you start doing scales, lead patterns, etc. Guitar players rag on this game a lot, but I’d bet money this game has been responsible for hundreds of thousands of new guitarist taking up the instrument, and that’s what really matters.
