If i learn acoustic guitar do i know how to play electric guitar?

I am a new guitar learner so i am wondering If i learn acoustic guitar do i know how to play electric guitar?

Chosen Answer:

The principle is the same…you’ll probably be able to play electric guitar if you can play acoustic guitar…but there are some differences in techniques, so you have to first specify what kind of music you want to play…

There are a lot more things you can do with an electric guitar beside the basic strumming and plucking of chords because the pickups are very sensitive and can sound with a light touch and there are countless types of guitar effects out there…

The playing techniques of each exploit the particular strengths of that type of guitar. The techniques are a Little different but the basics are the same. You will be able to play both though you may have to practice both before you can get the best out of them.
