How difficult is playing a bass guitar?

I know a bit about music, but not much about guitars.
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most difficult, how would you rank the difficulty of playing a 4 string bass guitar versus a 6 string “standard” guitar?

Chosen Answer:

if you plan on using a pick to play the bass then the difficulty is a 4
if you plan on using your fingers to play then the difficulty is a 6

playing the bass is easy, but mastering it is a difficulty of 10/10

guitar would start at a difficulty of 5-6, but mastering guitar is around a 9/10.

Bass & guitar have few things in common apart from their strings & body shape (electric)

Think about it this way, an upright bass/Double bass is easier than a guitar??
    no its a different instrument.

Bass isn’t any easier cause its 4 stringed, that is a general beginner mistake. In fact Bass has to be VERY tight on rhythm of all speeds & beats, otherwise the band falls apart. Supposedly Bass is the driving force of a band i’d say drums more-so but plenty put bass over guitar as most important.
Guitar focuses on melody hence why guitar-singers is alot more common than bass-singers
