Craig Taubman Will Perform Friday Night Services/Concert in Northfield and South Orange, New Jersey
Craig Taubman will bring his revolutionary approach to Shabbat and Jewish music to New Jersey next week! Craig and his band will visit the congregation of Congregation Beth Israel for Shabbat services on Friday, November 19th, and will make his way to South Orange for an inspiring concert with Congregation Beth El on November 21st.
Taubman’s take on Shabbat comes from the heart and reaches out through his voice…and his guitar. His services and concerts put a noticeable emphasis on the use of music in the congregation. The template comes from Taubman’s work with Rabbi David Wolpe at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, where the two dreamed up the idea for Friday Night Live, a monthly musical Shabbat service that regularly draws 2,000-plus congregants. Taubman’s Shabbat services welcome all comers and know no boundaries. The model has now been adopted in congregations worldwide.
Taubman insists on adapting services to each particular community, an approach that he will bring to the East Coast this coming weekend. “By figuring out what makes a community tick, what gets them excited, we can really start to think about re-invigorating synagogue life, whether in New Jersey, Los Angeles, or anywhere else,” says Taubman.
It has been a very busy holiday season for Taubman, who just released How Good, a mesmerizing mix of familiar songs with new arrangements.
